You Hate To Say Goodbye Sometimes

Well hello there,
I’ve been a die-hard fan of Firefox for my browsing needs since it first came out. Sure, other browsers had been able to catch my eye every now and then, but none that could get me to switch permanently. That is, until now. Google has been (quickly) working on their own browser, Chrome. When it first arrived, it was a cute toy. Very quickly though, Google ramped it up. It was still missing some key features I loved in Firefox. (Namely, add-ons.) Now though, Google supports extensions, and I’m afraid it may be time to say goodbye to Firefox. (At least for now.) Could You Live With Ads On YouTube?

So, YouTube has added‘Click To Buy’ ads to their videos. Lifehacker askswhat kinds of ads could we all live with? Personally, I like that Google added this to the videos. There have been times when I’d stumble-across a video where I’d love to have the music that goes along with it, but I wouldn’t necessarily know where to look for it. It would be nice if Google had a way to ‘detect’ the music someone might add to their video automatically so people could download it from their music store of choice.

In terms of ‘ads’ though, I’m a bit torn. Advertisements like you have on TV might get a bit annoying for video clips typically less than five minutes. BUT, I’d be willing to live with those advertisements IF they were (a) interesting and/or (b) relevant to my interests. I know other video hosting sites have small ‘pop-ups’ that sometimes appear during video playback. While usually slightly annoying, one quick click and they’re gone. Hell, I probably wouldn’t even mine some sort of text-scrolling ad somewhere, so long as it doesn’t actually interrupt the video itself.

Do I Want The New iPhone?

Haven’t heard about the new iPhone Apple released yesterday? (Where you in a coma?!) Pretty much fixes all of the flaws in the original iPhone, added 3g speeds, gps, etc. Most importantly, the base model is $199 with a two year contract. I think I wet myself a few times yesterday tracking the announcement! Do I want one though?

I think the hardest thing for me is that I just got a new phone not too long ago, and if my track record holds, I’ll have it for a good while. Never the less, with the price tag, the features and now the right speed, I’m absolutely drooling over the new phone. (And yes, I’d even be willing to spend a little more on the service plan for it.) So, what’s stopping me from getting the phone of my dreams?

Primarily, it’s the deposit I’ll have to end up paying for the service. Well that, and I’m trying to save money for a few other plans down the road. Truth be told though, I’m kind of interested to see what the G-phone will look like when that’s finally released. In the mean time though, I’ll dream what it would be like being able to surf the net, no matter where I am, and using the GPS navigation at the same time.
