Hello Again, Linux Mint

So, my trial of Windows 7 Ultimate ran out for my laptop. Yeah, it ran so much better than Vista, but honestly, I just don’t see the need to have Windows on my ’secondary’ computer anymore. (Plus, I just don’t have the cash to pay for the full version.) Before I tested Windows 7, I was using Linux Mint. (A flavor of Ubuntu.) So, I decided to download the latest version and give it a go again to see if things got any better. I have to say, I’m actually pretty damned impressed. More >

I’m Not Thrilled With Google’s Buzz, Yet

I have to admit, I use Facebook a lot. In all honesty, it’s the best way to keep up with my friends and family from all over. Yes, it has its own problems, but overall, I absolutely love it. (And so much more than CrapSpace!)

Google has introduced Buzz today, as their own way to improve social networking. The problem is, I don’t get what all the ‘buzz’ is about. More >

You Hate To Say Goodbye Sometimes

Well hello there,
I’ve been a die-hard fan of Firefox for my browsing needs since it first came out. Sure, other browsers had been able to catch my eye every now and then, but none that could get me to switch permanently. That is, until now. Google has been (quickly) working on their own browser, Chrome. When it first arrived, it was a cute toy. Very quickly though, Google ramped it up. It was still missing some key features I loved in Firefox. (Namely, add-ons.) Now though, Google supports extensions, and I’m afraid it may be time to say goodbye to Firefox. (At least for now.) About Twilight

I’m not typically the one to get into book trends. Harry Potter had been out for years, and I had seen two of the movies, before I even read the fifth book. (Yeah, I started to read the books out of order…) As it turned out though, the Harry Potter series is one of my favorite series ever. (With the Anne Rice series of vampire books in a close-second-place.)

When the Twilight movie came out, of course you had all these tweens going absolutely ga-ga over the whole thing. To put it lightly, I looked at the movie and thought to myself, “Man, why are people going so crazy over some vampires that look like wussies to me?” Finally though, I saw the movie. It was a huge disappointment, but after a little encouragement, I decided to see if the books were better. Man oh man, were they ever. More >

So Long, Heroes!

So, last night was the season finale(link goes to Wikipedia page, summary, spoilers!) of Volume 3. I’ll be honest and say after the crap that happened in Volume 2, I didn’t watch too much of Volume 3. Though, I did read online summaries of the episodes, so I had a rough idea when Allen and I went to watch the season finale last night. I had high hopes that it would be a spectacular episode. Boy, were those hopes dashed. Let me explain what I was expecting, and what actually happened…

Computer Review

First off, let me say what I’m coming from. I had a, very trusty, Gateway with a Pentium 4 running at 3.4ghz, 2 gigs of RAM, and a NVIDIA 6800 video card. It’s not ancient, but it’s showing its age. I do gaming, but it’s just World of Warcraft. Though, if you spend any amount of time in the game, you quickly get tired of the constant, ever-present lag. Thus, I was on a quest to get an upgrade with my tax refund money. More >

Review Of ‘Tin Man’ (Hint: Awesome!)

When I first heard about Tin Man, I was a little bit intrigued, and a little concerned at the same time. At first glance, it didn’t look like anything familiar. (And I was expecting some kind of familiarity.) With such an iconic film that the 1939 movie was, I was worried this was going to be some kind of cheap re-make. I was impressively surprised though, and the mini-series was awesome to watch indeed! I’d highly recommend anyone who has any remote interest in Oz to watch this mini-series. More >

Heroes: So Damned Dissapointing Thus-Far!

I have officially deleted all of my Heroes posts. To be honest, I didn’t even watch the last episode of Heroes this past Monday. (I watched Tin Man, instead. Look for a post about that mini-series latter on today.) I’m glad I didn’t. The last episode, from what I’ve read, utterly sucked and was more disappointing than the season’s premiere. Though, I’m not totally surprised, seeing as how much I’ve been disappointed this season anyways. More >

Product Review: Dannon Light & Fit Smoothies

I need to loose weight. For right now, it has more to do with the fact that my clothes fit tighter than they did, and I can tell more often that I’m out of shape. Taking baby steps, I’m trying to be more active every day, and start to watch what I eat. One of the biggest changes I’m trying to make, is ensuring I have something for breakfast. (As I’m learning that’s a big no-no in terms of loosing weight.)

I ran to Wal-Mart yesterday, and among other things, I decided to get a few of those yogurt smoothies for a light breakfast. Not on purpose, I grabbed a product from Dannon: Light & Fit Smoothie. I was wondering if it would taste horrible for breakfast this morning, but I was pleasantly surprised.
