Honestly, Why Wouldn’t You?
You Hate To Say Goodbye Sometimes
Well hello there,![]()
I’ve been a die-hard fan of Firefox for my browsing needs since it first came out. Sure, other browsers had been able to catch my eye every now and then, but none that could get me to switch permanently. That is, until now. Google has been (quickly) working on their own browser, Chrome. When it first arrived, it was a cute toy. Very quickly though, Google ramped it up. It was still missing some key features I loved in Firefox. (Namely, add-ons.) Now though, Google supports extensions, and I’m afraid it may be time to say goodbye to Firefox. (At least for now.)I came to this realization today. Chrome has all the add-ons I’d ever need. It is a bit noticeably faster than Firefox. And, in all honesty, I just like the look of Chrome better. (Except one quibble; I don’t like that my ‘Other bookmarks’ is listed on the far-right side…) Both browsers are of course more-secure than Internet Explorer, but I like Chrome’s take on sand boxing better than Firefox’s. Don’t get me wrong, I’d tell anyone to use Firefox, but for me, Chrome is going to be the way to go.
I have a feeling though that the browser wars aren’t over, not by a long shot. But for me to go back to Firefox, Mozilla is going to have to ramp things up. They’re going to have to come up with some really strong usability features to get me to go back. And they will. Firefox hasn’t really had any serious competition until now, and I can’t wait to see what’s next. In the mean time, I’m going to enjoy my new relationship with Chrome.
