I’m Done With Heroes

I hate to say it, but I’m done with Heroes. Season two of course was just awful, and season three isn’t much better, either. The concept of Heroes was actually pretty good. (Normal-ish people dealing with special powers.) The problem is though, the series perhaps strains a bit too much on being ‘down to earth,’ so to speak. Time after time, there’s way too much plot and not nearly enough action to go with it. The time traveling this year has also made me a bit nauseous.

It’s a shame too, because it had a lot of potential. At this point, I think the writers need to dump the current cast and go with another group. Surely, there would be all kinds of other interesting people and stories to tell in the Heroes universe? Maybe we’ll see that in season four, maybe not.

What Makes ME Happy?

It’s a simple question, right? For me though, sometimes, OK, allthe time, it’s hard for me. I fully admit that I’m more apt to please others first, before even remotely thinking of myself. Maybe that’s gone-on a little too long though? Maybe, just maybe, that’s a good chunk of why I’ve been feeling a bit down lately? Maybe I need to start focusing on me more than anything at the moment? The only problem is, I have no idea how to answer the question. Damnit… what DOES make me happy?

Madonna’s A Control Freak!

Madonna’s certainly not the diva we all came to love back in the 80’s and 90’s, as evidenced by THIS article describing her rules for her now ex-husband Guy Richie to see his kids. (See the actual rules at the very bottom of the article.) Now, after you read that, what did you think? Yeah, me too… Madonna’s finally loosing it. She’s slowly slipping-into that ‘religious-freak’ crowd that’s just a tad too weird for the general public. What’s truly sad, is the fact that the kids are stuck in the middle of it.

What smacks of irony though, is that it truly appears that she doesn’t want her kids exposed to just about anything of mainstream society. (Let’s just say ‘pop,’ shall we?) Yet, Madonna essentially works for the same society she’s trying to ‘protect’ her kids from. I can’t help but wonder how they’ll turn out, since I have a strong feeling the reason Madonna because who she was, was because of the limitations she was exposed too…

Men Have Periods, Too

It’s a cold, dreary day. A cold front is moving-in, and with it, the inevitable chill of wind and cold rain envelopes the land. It’s the kind of wind that seems to find every crack of my jacket when I’m outside, and makes me want to just stay in bed for the day. It’s funny how the weather sometimes matches my mood, as I’m feeling quite in a funk today. More >

On Security At Work

It’s that time of year again where my employer has us review our ethics and security briefings. It’s no big deal, with basically just a PowerPoint presentation of about 48 screens. We go over various scenarios on what is and isn’t right. It’s all pretty much common sense that any company would want their employees to follow. Of course, the reason why they make us view it every year, is to drive-home just how important the two issues are. More >

This Is Going To Get Ugly

It seems like various protests have been going on since Wednesday in California. For the moment, I wouldn’t myself call them ‘huge’ by any means, but it’s a start. It’s pretty obvious that the ‘passing’ of Prop 8 has pissed-off enough queens to get them riled-up. If you know anything about our community, if the energy continues, it will spread far and wide. I have to say, for a people that sometimes would rather just live their lives than openly protest like this, I’m happy to see more participation. More >

When You Just Can’t Care Anymore

You know, I don’t hate my job by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, I try very, very hard to love my job. When it boils down to it, I sit on the phone all day, problem solving, bargaining, and explaining things to customers. Even though it has its frustrations, it’s rewarding every so often to get that caller who say, “Oh my god! Thank you so much! You’ve totally helped me with my issue today!” There are times though, when you run out of ‘care.’ More >

‘Prop 8′ Looks To Pass

At the time that I write this, ‘Prop 8′ looks to pass in the state of California, basically over-turning a supreme court ruling made earlier this year. I’m a bit mixed on this news. Part of me feels very sad that California, of all states, would pass such a measure. I find it hard to believe that many people have a serious problem with gay marriage. Do that many people really think of me as a second-class citizen? More >

Obama Takes The Win!

You can hide under a rock in the middle of the forest, out in ‘No-Where’ of America, but you will eventually find out. It’s the morning-after Obama’s historical win, but there are no devils waiting to devour you. Hell hasn’t frozen over, and the earth is still spinning. For all of you fools who said that the world was going to end if Obama became president, well, you still look like fools! More >

Customers Expect You To Talk To Them Like A Baby

I try my damnedest to talk to people like a normal person. When I’m on the phone, I am very professional, with a touch of casual here and there. My tone can change, depending on who I’m talking to, and what the subject matter is at hand. This isn’t some kind of specialized skill… any customer service representative should be doing this. The problem is, it often seems like customers want to be ‘coddled’ instead of being treated like human beings. More >
